Great Marketing … Veuve Clicquot … And a great story
While we are not huge consumers of Champagne in the thinkerandthedrinker household we are suckers for great packaging, marketing and a great story.
This 2006 La Grande Dame Brut is very highly rated (WS-94 / RP-94 / WE-94) and made from 53% Pinot grapes and 47% Chardonnay. Any this should make it an instant contender for your cellar collection.
Veuve Clicquot is the champagne of Bond (the Sean Connery – Bond) – how much cooler can it get than that? Ok they used in Downton Abbey too and that’s not quite as cool but lets just focus on Bond. For those that are not aware of the backstory, Veuve Clicquot was founded by a widow who picked up her husbands wine business at the young age of 27 and became the grande dame of Champagne.
Veuve is hip, its cool but most of all it is exceptional. The attention to detail in the presentation of the box and the iconic label helps to underscore (beyond the $150+ price) that you are part of an exclusive club,
Are you a Veuve drinker? Do you prefer Cristal or Dom? What is your go to for special occasions?
